Mr. Epstein's Profesional Profile

Prior to joining TechLaw LLP, Mr. Epstein was an equity partner of the Nath; Law Group, a mid-size boutique intellectual property law firm based in the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area. Mr.Epstein founded the firm’s San Diego office in 2001 and grew it from a single person entity to an office of ten people expanding its footprint from San Diego to Los Angeles. Mr. Epstein established the Nath Law Group as one of the premier IP law firms in Southern California.

Prior to returning to the practice of law in San Diego in 2001, Mr. Epstein guided his company in Europe through two rounds of financing, deployed a nationwide internet network in Poland and managed the 100 person company covering the largest eight metropolitan areas in Poland. Mr. Epstein founded the company in the Czech Republic after arriving in Prague in 1992. He expanded the business to Poland where he grew and developed it from an international reseller of telephony services into a Polish national Internet Telephony Service Provider/Internet Service Provider.

From 1988 until 1992, Mr. Epstein practiced business litigation with Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison in the areas of real estate, creditors’ rights, landlord-tenant, securities, trademark and insurance coverage disputes. Representative clients have included the RTC, Wells Fargo Bank, Sammis Properties, LandGrant Development, The Tandy Corporation and Torrey Pines Bank.

Mr. Epstein obtained his Bachelors degree from Princeton University in 1983 and graduated from Boston University School of Law with honors in 1987. In law school, he received several honors and awards for academic achievement and was a Note and Case Editor for the Boston University Law Review, where he published a student note. He served as the law clerk for The Honorable Howard B.Turrentine in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California in 1987-88.

Mr. Epstein is admitted to practice before the Bar in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, a member of the Program Committee for the Association for Corporate Growth, a member of the Corporate Directors Forum and the San Diego Venture Group. He is Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Special Interest Group of CommNexus, a Trustee of the Licensing Executive Society, USA/Canada Chapter, a member of the Technology Committee of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Executive Committee and Program Committee of the Orange County Medical Device Network, a member of the San Diego Intellectual Property Lawyers Association and the Group Leader for the Orange County Technology Group of ProVisors. He is a regular speaker on topics ranging from Patent Reform and other intellectual property issues to international transactions.
