Jonathan Kidney, of counsel at TechLaw, LLP, specializes in representing hi-technology clients in the electrical sciences. Jonathan graduated from Clemson University with a B.S.E.E. in 1984 and a M.S.E.E. in 1992, focusing on computational electromagnetics. He received his J.D. degree from George Mason University in 1999.
He has advised FORTUNE 100 clients in a wide variety of technologies including wireless systems, antenna design, radar, computer networking, software/business methods, micro-fuel cells, MEMS, semiconductors, electromagnetic and mechanical devices. He is well versed in the procedures of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and has assisted his clients in infringement analysis, due diligence, portfolio valuation and trademark/trade dress/copyright-based product protection strategies.
Prior to Mr. Kidney’s entry into the legal profession, he enjoyed over 12 years of experience in such diverse fields as: a software/algorithm engineer programming in Unix, Fortran, Ada, C, C++, Java for analyzing spacecraft antennas with the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.; as an oil field logging engineer conducting off-shore open-hole measurements using proprietary radioactive-sonic-mechanical-electromagnetic measurement tools with Schlumberger in Louisiana; as a radar/RADHAZ/EMI project engineer with the U.S. Navy’s SPAWAR division in South Carolina; as an adjunct professor at Tri-County College in South Carolina; and a high school math and science teacher in Kiev, Ukraine.
Mr. Kidney is admitted to the District of Columbia, Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
